Abstract
This talk introduces the concept of Ambient-Oriented Programming, a novel and exciting programming paradigm addressing ad hoc networks of mobile devices. The talk introduces the cornerstones of the paradigm and illustrates how they are achieved in AmbientTalk, the first ambient-oriented programming language. However, AmbientTalk is but a first milestone on the long road towards realistic ambient-oriented applications. This talk therefore will also identify some of the themes which are stepping stones towards the next incarnation of the ambient-oriented paradigm.
About the speaker
Stijn Mostinckx graduated as a Master in Computer Science from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, in 2004. Following his graduation, he has acquired a doctoral grant for his research on programming language support for mobile users. In the past two years, he has been involved in the development of the ambient-oriented programming paradigm and AmbientTalk.
